Moves into the Big Science market with contract from CERN

ElectroHeat Sweden

ElectroHeat Sweden, with its head office in Göteborg, makes industrial ovens and heat treatment equipment for industrial companies all over the world. The ovens are used for heating processes that improve the working life of a component, for example by increasing strength, temperature resistance, ductility, and surface hardness.

This is an exciting market for us, with great potential for more business.

Significant order from CERN

By winning its first Big Science contract, an order from CERN, ElectroHeat stepped into a new market involving a greater focus on research and development. In the order, ElectroHeat designed, constructed, produced, and delivered an 850°C oven for heating steel.

“This is an exciting market for us, with great potential for more business,” says Sales Manager Felix Warnmark.

Tight tolerances

The specifications from CERN were strict, including requirements for temperature precision and evenness, as well as tight tolerances.

“It’s always difficult to know what you’re up against, but we stressed that we could meet the specifications for tight tolerances. I think that was important and a key factor in this case.

Research facilities are an exciting market for us. Success in this first order to CERN could mean a breakthrough. Now that we know what to do when this type of procurement arises, there is great potential for supplying similar machines to other facilities.”

The oven has now been delivered and has been in operation at CERN for one and a half years, with excellent results.

“We have achieved very good results in terms of temperature uniformity, even exceeding the required specifications. That is something we are very proud of,” says Felix Warnmark.

Felix also highlights the experience of working with CERN as an important milestone for the company.

“It has been rewarding to contribute to such an advanced research environment. This project has strengthened our confidence in delivering highly specialised equipment for Big Science facilities.”
