Downtime for particle accelerators can cost users hundreds of thousands of euros per day. BL Monitor and Control therefore developed a groundbreaking concept for remote access control for the leading accelerator facilities in Sweden. This system gives experts access to the machines around the clock from anywhere in the world, enabling them to spot issues before they become problems and fix problems before they become downtime.
We know that downtime is not only a killer for Big Science but for the manufacturing sector. We therefore spun-off the same technology we use for maintaining top performance at particle accelerators. The result is Blinky-Lite, a secure remote access control system that easily integrates into the manufacturing sector..

Core Competencies

- We support Big Science & Life Sciences facilities with the implementation of customised remote data acquisition & control solutions based on the Blinky-Lite automation platform. Along with the platform, a very user-friendly, wireless instrumentation suite consisting of a water leak detector, temperature sensors (PT 100/1000 & DS18B20 type), a 4-20mA readout device, a programmable interlock switch (plus more to come) can be offered for enhanced reliability.

- Navigating the unique challenges of remote scientific environments, Blinky-Lite provides a data acquisition & control system that prioritises security and functionality without reliance on unreliable cloud solutions. The system provides local data storage with secured remote access, enhanced by role-based access control to ensure that only authorised personnel can manage and view sensitive data. This approach minimises security risks and protects intellectual property without compromising ease of access.
- Blinky-Lite’s customisable dashboard capabilities, enable users to tailor their monitoring and control interface according to their specific needs. Engineers and researchers can quickly adjust parameters and respond to alerts, enabling proactive management of their experiments.
- The Blinky-Lite setup adapts to the facility’s growing (data acquisition & control system) needs without the necessity for complete infrastructure overhauls. This ensures that research can scale up efficiently and effectively.
