Swedish companies explore collaboration opportunities at European XFEL

Swedish companies visited European XFEL on 8–9 September to present their expertise and discuss the research facility’s technical needs. The Sweden@XFEL event provided opportunities to strengthen connections and explore future collaboration.

A two-day programme full of opportunities

The two-day programme brought together Swedish industry representatives and European XFEL experts. It began with networking and an informal barbecue, followed by company presentations and technical discussions moderated by Antonio Bonucci, Head of Industrial Liaison Office at European XFEL.

The following companies presented their expertise were Eclipse Optics, Hemi Heating, EKAnalys (EKA), Savantic, LUE, Fagerström, Provexa and Heftytec.

Swedish expertise matches the facility’s needs

European XFEL highlighted several areas where industry collaboration is important, including optics and photonics, precision manufacturing, advanced materials, surface coatings and metal additive manufacturing.

Conversations explored how the companies could contribute to European XFEL’s research infrastructure, including beamline components, vacuum systems and detector technologies. Informal exchanges also gave participants time to build relationships and discuss ideas for future partnerships.

A conversation can spark collaboration

Frida Tibblin Citron, Project Manager at Big Science Sweden, highlights the importance of meeting in person:

“Meeting in person makes it easier to find the right contacts and understand each other’s needs. A simple conversation can be the start of a new collaboration.”
