Freemelt’s SEK 55 million fusion order showcases Swedish industrial expertise

Advancing fusion energy
The components will be delivered to JT-60SA, a joint European-Japanese fusion programme in Naka, Japan. Deliveries are scheduled to continue through 2028, with the majority planned for 2027.

Built for extreme conditions
Tungsten is used in plasma-facing components in fusion reactors because it can withstand extreme heat loads. Its high melting point, strong thermal conductivity and resistance to erosion make it particularly suitable for this demanding environment.
Freemelt will fulfil the order through its Manufacturing business area, working with established partners across the value chain. The contract covers the manufacture and delivery of finished, qualified components.
