Big Science Sweden highlights upcoming events and activities
30 September 2025: AIMday Big Science Technology
AIMday returns, this time as a joint Swedish–Danish event in Lund. Research facilities have submitted no fewer than 25 challenges for academia and industry to explore in workshops. The
AIMday format is a proven concept – challenges discussed in a one-hour session often lead to pre-studies and long-term collaborations.
“Over the years, AIMday has proven to be a very successful concept. This year, we have no fewer than 27 challenges for participants to choose from,” says Fredrik Engelmark at Big Science Sweden.
Fredrik reflects on the impact of the event: “Every time I’m at an AIMday, I’m amazed by the energy in the room. It’s fascinating to see experts from different fields come together to tackle real challenges. And of course, we are pleased to highlight one of the strongest outcomes from 2024: a challenge from GSI in Germany that resulted in a joint pre-study with Examec and Uppsala University. What begins as a dialogue can grow into concrete projects, and real business.”
3 October 2025: Fusion – new opportunities for Swedish industry
As Fusion for Energy (F4E) expands its scope and new industrial needs arise, Swedish companies and research institutes are finding increasing opportunities to contribute.
In October Big Science Sweden • The Swedish ILO, together with the Stockholm-based company Novatron, which is developing its own fusion reactor, is arranging a symposium at KTH Royal Institute of Technology with ITER’s Director-General Pietro Barabaschi as keynote speaker.
The event will further strengthen ties between ITER and Sweden.
