Big Science Sweden at IUC Sverige’s national conference

Big Science Sweden hosted a session at IUC Sverige’s national conference in Lund, aimed at inspiring IUC’s network of business developers who work directly with companies across Sweden. IUC Syd is an industrial development centre with a mission to promote growth and competitiveness in industrial companies in Skåne.

Amelie Hallin (Big Science Sweden) with Per Woxenius (Freemelt), Benny Björkander (RFR Solutions), and Lars Milde (Brokk).

How to do business with Big Science?

We shared insights on how Swedish high-tech companies can take their first steps toward becoming suppliers to large-scale research facilities such as ESS and MAX IV.

Three of our member companies – Freemelt, RFR Solutions, and Brokk – joined us on stage to share their journeys into the Big Science market. Each has followed a different path, offering valuable perspectives on the opportunities and challenges of working with large-scale research infrastructures.

The panel of the day

The panel was moderated by Amelie Hallin, with Catarina Sahlberg and Frida Tibblin Citron from Big Science Sweden. Speakers included Per Woxenius (Freemelt), Benny Björkander (RFR Solutions), and Lars Milde (Brokk).

In the afternoon, we arranged a technical visit for some member companies to the Active Cell at ESS. Magnus Görhan – formerly at ITER and now at ESS – gave an insightful tour and presentation about the ongoing work at the facility.

Selma Maric, Industry Coordinator at MAX IV and Director of ARI4Sweden, also joined our programme to present current research activities at MAX IV.
