The experimental system must be delivered with all necessary components (except vacuum pumps) for running an experiment. The system must enable the generation of protonated molecular ions in the source volume and the subsequent insertion of these into vacuum. The equipment must include a segmented linear ion trap that enables several tandem MSn steps, incl., mass selection and accumulation and that also enables several ion activation techniques. It must be possible to perform photoexcitation, electron impact excitation and collisional excitation on the trapped ions. The mass/charge of the product ions must be measured using a reflectron time of flight spectrometer.
