Supply of Optic Fiber cable for the ALMA Observatory / PR130094-FRI

Call for tender (CFT) covering the supply of optic fiber cable for the ALMA Observatory The CFT is scheduled to be issued in Q3/2025 to potential suppliers in the ESO Member States The scope of work includes the supply of 32 km of optic fiber cable (8 drums of 4km each) for outdoor applications and suitable for direct burial without sand bed (manufacturing according to standard IEC 60794). The cable shall contain 192 fiber optic cores single mode 9/125/250 µm (standard G.652.D) with specific constraints for attenuation and Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD). The scope also includes measuring and reporting attenuation and PMD for each core and for all drums. The contract is expected to be awarded in Q3/2025, to the Bidder, which has submitted a fully compliant Tender and offers the lowest price.
