The guide changer is made in aluminium and is in a vacuum carter. It’s used to remove the last 4,5m of focusing guide with a diaphragm at the end in order to adjust only the necessary beam. After the diaphragm, there is a vacuum tube in order to transport neutrons as close as possible to the monochromator.
It will be linked upstream to the DC2 / DC3 vacuum carter and downstream it will go through the monochromator shielding.
The guide changer is made of 2 independent translations sections upstream (2,5m) and downstream(2m).
The diaphragm is made of 4 independent shutters made in sintered B4C.
