Purchase of a Complete C-Band High Power RF UNIT for the COLD Project

The present call for tender (CFT) addresses the design, construction, tests and delivery at the ESRF of a complete C-Band (5.712GHz) RF Unit composed by a klystron, a modulator based on solid state technology and all related auxiliaries. The RF Unit must fulfill the following main specifications: RF peak power of 50MW, pulse duration larger than 4 microseconds and a rep. rate of 10Hz. The RF unit will be used in the COLD Project to power SLAC cryogenic (LN2 at 77K) C-band distributed coupling accelerating structures. If the COLD Project is successful, the possibility of a full energy linac at 6GeV opens to replace the full existing ESRF injector complex. For this reason the bidders are kindly asked to also quote for a full series of 20 similar RF units. This further quotation remains optional for the present CFT.
