PR122464-MRI Supply of Sylodamp material for M1 Segment Assembly Transport Containers (HQ Garching)

As an additional safety precaution, blocks of Sylodamp SP 100 will be entered into the wire dampers of the suspension system of the transport containers for the Mirror Segments of the Extremely Large Telescope’s primary mirror. Figure 1 shows an example (with a different material, and in this case composed of 3 layers of foam). The scope of this contract consists in the production and delivery of 1452 blocks of Sylodamp SP 100 of the required dimensions.
