MS-4588/EP/CMS - Supply of Crystal Arrays for the CMS Mip Timing Detector Barrel.

This Technical Description concerns the supply of about 11,200 assembled arrays of L(Y)SO crystals constituting the active elements in the CMS Mip Timing Detector barrel for a total crystal volume of about 100,000 cm³. The crystal arrays will be read out on both ends with Silicon Photomultipliers to constitute a detector module. Technical requirements of the crystal properties and of the assembled array structure to be supplied, are described in this document. This Market Survey will be followed by an Invitation to Tender that is planned to be issued in Q4 2020. CERN will reserve the right to split the contract among at least two contractors.
