A Preliminary Inquiry covering the Manufacture, according to ESO’s design, verification and delivery of different types of Wavefront Sensing Cameras for the ELT will be issued in Q4 2020. It will be followed by a Call for tender. These cameras will be used for a variety of Adaptive Optics applications at the ELT, both for the telescope and its instrumentation. The cameras consist of the detector and its mount, read-out Front-End board, Main Control board, Power Regulator board, Peltier Controller/Cryostat, main structure and cooling system. The detectors types will be electron multiplying CCD and CMOS, these will be supplied by ESO. The cameras will be developed in house by ESO, after which the contract(s) will be placed by ESO for their production (built-to-print contract). The Preliminary Inquiry is planned to be issued to potential suppliers in the ESO Member States and Chile, with the aim to award the contract in Q3 2021.
