The ILL’s/SON/3He group is producing polarised 3He for polarised neutron experiments
with a homemade filling station called « Tyrex2 ». The ILL group is now doing a copy of
the Tyrex2 station called TYRESS2
The TYRESS2 station will use 10 fiber lasers 10W dedicated for optical pumping of 23S
metastable state of helium with 1083 nm resonant light, regulated with a lambda-meter:
with the following specification:
✓ 1 seeder, operating wavelength 1083.00nm (in air) tunable +/- 0.15nm
✓ Output signal linewidth 2GHz +/- 0.2GHz
✓ 1 Multiplexer, 11 outputs (for 10 amplifier + 1 lambda-meter).
✓ 10 Fiber Amplifiers 10 Watt adjustable manually on front panel or remotely.
✓ All devices compatible with 19 inches’ racks, max 3u, cooled by quiet air fans, with remote start.
✓ Mode of operation CW
✓ Input power monitoring safety
✓ SBS detection system and fast shutdown to prevent damage of the amplifier if spectral broadening
fails
✓ Power stability 4% over 6 hours:
✓ Wavelength adjustable with autonomous programmable lambda-meter (LabView
✓ drivers).
✓ Operating wavelength stability <10pm over 6 hours
✓ Output signal linewidth 2GHz +/- 0.2GHz: spectral profiler without discrete lines around the
carrier frequency characteristics of sin modulation.
✓ Optical polarization linear
✓ Polarization extinction ratio 100:1 (20dB)
✓ Output fiber length 15m
✓ Polarization preserving fibers
✓ Output insulation. Optical isolation > 25dB
✓ Output termination: FC/APC connector
✓ Output monitor fiber 2m with FC/APC connector
