This Technical Specification concerns the design, supply, installation, testing
and commissioning of four R744 (CO2) refrigeration systems operating in a
trans-critical cycle and with capacities of 70 kW approx (two systems),
380 kW and 750 kW refrigerating power at -53°C and at the evaporator. One
“70” kW and the 380 kW system will be installed at point 1 (ATLAS
experiment located in Meyrin, Switzerland) and one “70” kW and the 750 kW
systems at point 5 (CMS experiment located in Cessy, France) of CERN’s
Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
Two Contracts are expected to be awarded in April 2020 and the on-site
installation works are foreseen to take place between September 2021 and
Spring 2024. Testing, commissioning and acceptance shall be completed
respectively by October 2021 for the first “70” kW system (ATLAS), by
December 2021 for the second “70” kW system (CMS) and by Spring 2024
for the 380 kW and 750 kW systems.
