Objectives pursued within the present framework contract are the following:
To support the safety demonstration of the TBS design, i.e. to build up, document and
defend nuclear safety cases;
To pursue the establishment of a systematic and comprehensive approach to the TBS
transient and accident analysis, in particular by assuring the use of qualified codes,
models and input data;
To demonstrate that the TBS design fulfil its safety functions and comply with the ITER
safety requirements and limits; this will be examined in particular at the preliminary and
final design reviews of the TBS;
To provide the needed documentation for the update of the TBS PrSR, in particular on
transient and accidental analyses (TBS Accidental Analysis Report [RD-30] and
checklists E1/E2 [RD-26 & RD-27; RD-48 & RD-49]);
To support the design and safety decisions by providing input to F4E and the ITER
operator based on the results of transient and accidental analyses, following a schedule
driven by the preparation of preliminary and final design reviews.
