The housings of the D11+ collimation are a series of vacuum vessels that contains the collimation mechanics. The housings are bolted one to each other in order to form a common vessel. This one is equipped with flanges at both ends in order withstand vacuum.
There is 2 types of housings: vertical housings (3 identical items) and horizontal housings (10 pieces with a very similar design) A dedicated flange allows transition from the vertical housings to the horizontal ones and the common vessel is equipped with flanges at both ends.
Each housing is equipped with:
- 2 feet to fix the housing on their support,
- a series of flange dedicated to the passage of rod supporting the collimation mechanics inside the housings,
- a series of flange for feedthroughs and vacuum management,
- a door or a cover plate to access the inner of the housing.
The housings are made of steel. The door and cover plate are made of aluminium.
The size of each housings is typically 800 x 400 x 2600 mm.
A special attention should be applied to geometric tolerances of each housing in order to guarantee a proper alignment of the assembly along the beam axis.
The vacuum performance are :
Absolute internal pressure: 10⁻² mbar
Global assembly leakage rate: 5.10⁻⁶ mbar.l.s⁻¹
Individual (by housing): leakage rate: 1.10⁻⁶ mbar.l.s⁻¹
The manufacturing process must be carried out under quality assurance (CODAP).
The manufacturer should be:
- a boiler making company,
- familiar with quality assurance,
- able to perform re-machining over 2.6 m.
