[388] Common shielding

ESS is requesting suppliers to submit tenders in order to conclude an agreement for the Common Shielding project. The Common Shielding project carries the task of providing a standardised common design solution for shielding for attenuation down to a safe level of the radiation emanating from long and medium neutron instruments’ hardware and beam guides in the experimental halls (D01 and D03 buildings) and guide hall (E02 building) to thus ensure a safe working environment. In addition to manufacturing, assembly, delivery and installation overview of finished complete shielding blocks (including block assemblies) to the ESS site, the agreement also includes provisions for detailed design input from the Contractor to ensure the most cost-effective solutions. The primary scope of work is for the service and supply of a Common Shielding System for minimum two (2), but with an option of up to four (4), neutron instruments in accordance with the ESS Common Shielding project installation schedule.
