[3617] Purchase of one Power Coupler for Main RF Cavities (352MHz)

The first power couplers for ESRF Main RF cavities (352MHz) have been successfully produced in the mid-90’s. These couplers are used to feed both 5-Cell cavities of the ESRF booster (in the past also installed in the storage ring) and new Monocell cavities installed in the new EBS-ESRF storage ring. They can handle a maximum power of about 180kW in continuous wave (CW). The last bunch of couplers has been produced more than 15 years ago. This CFT is meant to qualify Companies still able to manufacture Power Coupler for ESRF Main RF Cavities. Mechanical drawings of the couplers will be provided by the ESRF as well as the coated ceramic needed to ensure air to vacuum separation. The General Assembly drawing has been included in the consultation allowing to show the main techniques that the supplier needs to master to provide for such a component which include vacuum brazing and TIG welding. The power couplers work under ultra high vacuum (UHV): no leaks greater that 10-10 mbar l/s have to be detected.
