Manufacture of up to four Variable Line Spacing (VLS) reflective X-ray diffraction gratings for use on the ESRF Beamline ID32 in the energy range 300-1800 eV. The ESRF will supply polished Silicon grating blanks upon which the chosen supplier will manufacture the grating structures with continuously varying line density. To maximize the diffraction efficiency the grating structures shall be blazed. Supply will include gold or platinum coating of the gratings. Silicon blank dimensions [mm] Grating [1]: 200 x 30 x 30 Gratings [2,3,4]: 200 x 40 x 25 Useful grating area [mm] [1] 180 x 14 [2,3,4] 180 x 10 Optical surface figure [1] Spherical, R = 26 m [2,3,4] Plane, R > 80 km Central line density [1] 300 mm-1 [2] 500 mm-1 [3] 800 mm-1 [4] 1600 mm-1 (1st order) or 800 mm-1 (2nd order) 2 of the 3 grating structures [2,3,4] shall be manufactured side by side on the same substrate.
