Design, Development, Production, Delivery and Test of 2 SFRS NC Dipole Magnets
Production and delivery of the magnets and other nessesary components as well as FAT testing and SAT and assembly. Two dipole magnets with a weight of about 95t each are required in the target area of the magnetic separator Super-FRS of the FAIR project.
The dipoles require a good field region of 380 mm×140 mm in the field range from 0.15 to 1.6 Tesla. The bending radius is 12.5 m and the bending angle 11 degree. The field quality must be in the range of ?3?10-4. The maximum current is set to 640 A.
An integrated radiological dose of up to 280 MGy is expected after 20 years of operation. Radiation resistant magnets and tools have to be used for such an environment. The normal conducting magnets must be completely built with inorganic materials. The coil of these magnets must be made of mineral insulation cables (MIC). These special cables can withstand a radiological dose of more than 1011 Gray. They will be provided by the customer.
