1.4 GHz SSA amplifiers modules

The ESRF is planning the installation of active 4th harmonic accelerating cavities for bunch lengthening, which will need to be powered by 1.4 GHz RF solid state amplifiers (SSA). The object of this CFT is the procurement of bare water cooled RF modules delivering at least 1 kW of RF power per unit at 1.409 GHz. The procurement of DC power supplies to power these RF modules will be subject of a separate CFT. Depending on the unit power, as many RF modules as necessary will be combined at the ESRF to provide typically up to 60 kW to the RF cavities. This CFT will be divided into two phases. Phase 1 will correspond to the procurement of exactly the number of RF modules required to obtain at least 66 kW. They will be used to build the first SSA at the ESRF and then test the first prototype cavity. Depending on the result of theses tests, we will then launch phase 2 for the fabrication of additional RF modules for a total of typically 200 kW RF power.
