We are seeking a technology provider for the design and manufacture of a
cryostat lid (600-700 mm diameter for a cryostat length of about 3 m to test
coils of about 2 m length) for a superconducting undulator measurement stand
at European XFEL. Key highlights:
- Extremely stringent helium leak tightness ≤ 1×10⁻⁹ mbar l/s
- Structural requirements to support up to 800 kg of undulator coils and
frame.
- Use of certified cryogenic materials (1.4541 / 1.4571 stainless steel,
aluminum shields)
- Design to withstand 4 K operations in liquid helium, with design pressure
up to 2.0 bar abs and test pressure at 2.5 bar abs.
- Integration of:
- High-current leads: 1500 A main, plus up to 12 x 20 A correction leads
( 2 kV insulation), with intermediate cooling stage to minimize 4 K heat
load .
- multilayer insulation (MLI) on the different thermal shields
- Multiple instrumentation feedthroughs, e.g. hermetic connectors for ~120
sensor wires and voltage taps rated with 2 kV insulation.
- DN100CF flange for a linear motion system and three DN40KF/DN100KF
flanges for cryogenic instrumentation.
- Compliance with PED 2014/68/EU (Category III) and AD 2000 regulations is
mandatory.
