AAC Omnisys, part of Swedish company AAC Clyde Space AB, engineers and manufactures bespoke scientific instruments for advanced science applications. With over three decades of experience, we develop advanced payloads and high-performance electronics, including sensors, power systems, electrochemical instruments and optical instruments.AAC Omnisys is building radio astronomy receivers for the SKA Observatory (SKAO), a publicly funded intergovernmental organisation constructing two of the world’s largest radio telescopes: SKA-Mid in South Africa and SKA-Low in Australia.
For the European Space Agency’s Arctic Weather Satellite (AWS), AAC Omnisys developed an innovative scientific weather payload. Its passive microwave radiometer will measure atmospheric temperature and humidity for Numerical Weather Prediction and Nowcasting.
We are long-term partners with leading space institutes, including the ALMA radio astronomy facility in Chile. The 16-year partnership followed a contract appointing us as the main supplier of 58 Water Vapour Radiometers—one for each antenna at ESO’s ALMA telescope.
Our team developed the Sub-millimeter Wave Instrument (SWI) aboard ESA’s Jupiter mission JUICE, launched in April 2023. JUICE is the first large-class mission in ESA’s Cosmic Vision 2015–2025 programme.
