The workshop is jointly organised by GSI/FAIR and Swedish companies EKAnalys and Assemblin, on site at GSI in Germany.
Why attend?
The afternoon brings together experts from industry and research infrastructures to explore sustainable cooling solutions for the future. Participants from facilities such as ILL, Fusion for Energy, European XFEL and ESS are especially welcome to share experiences and discuss common challenges.
Guided technical site visit
A special highlight of the day is a guided technical site visit of GSI/FAIR cooling installations, giving participants direct insight into real systems, operational challenges and implementation constraints.
Programme highlights:
- Case study: from CERN experience to GSI/FAIR implementation
- Regulatory framework and methodological approach
- Technical solutions and future-proof strategies
- Guided site visit of GSI/FAIR installations
- Interactive discussion on transferability to other Big Science facilities
Speakers
- Simone Schwarz, GSI/FAIR
- Fredrik Strengbohm, Assemblin
- Jörgen Rogstam, EKAnalys
Registration
Further details and registration via Indico before 22 May 2026.
GSI/FAIR
GSI/FAIR is a German research complex in Darmstadt that includes GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung and the new international accelerator facility Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR), which is currently under construction. The site is one of the world’s leading centres for research with heavy ions, antiprotons and antimatter-related physics, and plays a key role in European accelerator science.
